The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Scholars

Each spring, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences honors graduating seniors who have distinguished themselves by amassing an impressive body of work during their undergraduate careers. The top students in each of the majors taught within HSS are recognized for their academic achievements as HSS Scholars.

Ketner Emerging Scholars

Each year we have the incredible opportunity to recognize student activists through the Ketner Emerging Leaders scholarship. Because of generous support from long-time champion of the WGS program, Linda Ketner, we are able to offer competitive scholarships to student leader-activists working for social change in our communities. Students spend the academic year engaged in self-designed projects that advance social justice.

This year's cohort includes students who are focused on issues such as LGBTQ+ oppression, racial and gender health disparities in Charleston, sexual assault prevention, neighborhood/community organizing, and equity in education. Learn more about our current cohort of Ketner scholars for the 2018-19 academic year.
